Remainers risk voters’ wrath by claiming that Brexit decision can be reversed

Have you heard? Brexit’s dead . . . never going to happen - that’s the story in the Westminster bubble, anyway

HAVE you heard? Brexit’s dead . . . never going to happen. That’s the story in the Westminster bubble, anyway.

Some excitable Remainers are seizing on the Tories’ weakness and concluding  the referendum can  be reversed.

Even some leavers are wobbling now the Government seems  so fragile.

How does anyone imagine overturning the Brexit decision would pan out?

Voters’ rage would be off the scale and unprecedented.

And who could blame them?

The most recent surveys show a big majority wanting to get on with leaving. Only a month ago the two main parties BOTH stood on pro-Brexit platforms.

Meanwhile  investment is pouring in at record levels and has created 75,000 jobs in a year.

Some £2.4billion has been put into our tech firms, dwarfing investment in Germany and France. Oddly, that’s not topping BBC bulletins.

Unlike some in Government, we don’t expect the Beeb to cheerlead for Brexit.

But would it kill our national broadcaster to give it a fair hearing?

Homes rocket

HOW can our dire housing shortage ever be resolved while a third of new homes given planning permission don’t get built?

The charity Shelter says that total is 320,000 in the past five years. It claims builders deliberately sit on vacant land to keep the supply low and their prices up.

The builders deny that, insisting the planning system is so complex it takes an age before they can send  diggers in.

Whatever the truth, Communities Secretary Sajid Javid can fix it. First by drastically simplifying  planning laws and telling councils to raise housing targets.

Second, by telling builders that if they aren’t digging within a year of getting final consent the Government will punitively tax their unused land or compulsorily purchase it.

This crisis needs fixing without delay.

Fascist Left

IF you don’t yet fear what a Corbyn government would unleash, consider what his supporters are already up to.

Momentum activists have taken over the  party in Liverpool Wavertree and ordered popular MP Luciana Berger to apologise to Corbyn for  doubting him.

They insist she now answers to them.

This is the start of the predicted purge of every moderate Labour MP.

Corbyn’s young voters still imagine him as some kindly grandad. It is a con.

He is just a frontman for remorseless, hate-filled class warriors controlling a party  shot through with anti-semitism and violently intolerant of any beliefs but theirs. Imagine them winning power and gripping Britain by the throat too.

Don’t think this couldn’t happen in our gentle, moderate country. It is what the hard Left always does.

We must never give them the chance.
