LAG ATTACK

Stephen Lawrence killer ‘assaulted in prison with a sock filled with tins by a lag serving life for strangling a prostitute to death’

Racist thug David Norris is suing the government for £10,000

ONE of the racist gang who murdered Stephen Lawrence was assaulted in prison with a sock filled with tins by a 'lag serving life for strangling a prostitute to death'.

Leon Fyle, 28, allegedly attacked killer David Norris in Belmarsh prison, according to the Mirror.

Fyle was on remand awaiting trial after he was accused of strangling transgender prostitute Destiny Lauren in 2009.

Norris claims he was targeted by three black inmates, who used a knife and a sock full of tin cans.

He reportedly suffered a broken nose and cuts to his face, as well as black eyes, broken ribs and lasting psychological effects.

Norris, 40, is now suing the Government for £10,000 after he was beaten up in prison, claiming they failed to protect him.

And this week he was given leave by a judge to proceed with a case which could hit the taxpayer with a £70,000 bill after legal costs.

Norris, jailed for life in 2012, was found covered in blood in his cell.

This week Judge Charles Freeland QC granted permission for him to proceed with his claim for damages against the Ministry of Justice.

But crime campaigner John Johnson, whose son Kevin, 22, was killed in Sunderland in 2007 after confronting three drunks, blasted the claim.

He said: “It is obscene that someone like Norris gets life for murder and then earns money out of it.”

Norris, one of a gang who ambushed Stephen, 18, at a bus stop in Eltham, South East London, in 1993, had to have 18 stitches to seal four deep wounds on his face.

The damages claim was revealed in a ruling by the judge at Central London county court.

Outlining Norris’s claim, he said: “It is alleged he specifically requested he be returned to his previous location where he felt safe.”

But that did not happen and instead Norris was subjected to the savage attack in his cell, his case claims.

Norris’s lawyers say no adequate risk assessment was made before moving him to a section with black inmates with a “propensity to serious violence”.

And they accuse the MoJ of taking inadequate steps to protect him.

The judge said the MoJ strenuously denies any breach of duty.

He ordered the county court should hear a trial of Norris’s claims later this year.

The Mirror reports the MoJ is fighting the claim on the grounds that Norris provoked the attack.
