TOUT OF ORDER

Ed Sheeran goes to war with touts cancelling 10,000 tickets for his tour which were bought just to resell

ED Sheeran has taken on ticket touts by cancelling 10,000 tickets for his gigs being sold online for astronomical prices.

Hundreds of tickets for the singer's Wembley gigs next year - taking place from June 14 to 17 - were listed on resale websites just minutes after they went on sale.

Fans were left livid after they missed out on tickets, only for them to later appear online for up to £1,000.

The Mirror reported most sellers wanted up to eight times the value of the tickets - which had a face value price of £49 to £88.

But some asked for even more obscene amounts, with one reportedly offering two tickets for £174,000.

Now, the tickets have been put back on resale.

The only official way to legitimately resell tickets for Ed's 15-show UK tour is via face value reselling platform Twickets, which has teamed up with the singer to help fans avoid being ripped off.

Ed’s spokesman told The Mirror: “Most profiteering companies heeded promoters’ warnings not to trade and resell tickets that would instantly be cancelled.

"This resulted in 90% of tickets being delivered into fans’ hands at the face value.

“The process of analysing sales and cancelling tickets purchased for purposes for resale will continue until the tour takes place.”
