Two human skulls discovered in carrier bags behind empty supermarket in quiet Devon town
The first was located behind a Budgens store and 'further inquiries' led Devon police to a second skull that had been dumped on the banks of the River Dart in Totnes
TWO human skulls have been found in carrier bags by workmen on a site behind an empty supermarket.
The first was behind a Budgens store and police say “further inquiries” led them to a second on the banks of the River Dart in Totnes, Devon.
One skull is male, one female and both aged over 21 when they died.
They could be up to 100 years old but will be more accurately dated by forensic tests.
A police spokesman said: “The female skull was better preserved, having traces of hair, indicating that it was kept in a crypt-type environment.
"Further inquiries being conducted by Totnes CID but this is not being treated as a criminal investigation at this time."
