FAKE ACID ATTACK

Shocking CCTV footage shows ‘fake acid attack’ thugs hurl water over Muslim women walking out of a mosque in Southampton

TWO Muslim women had water thrown hurled over them in what is being described as a 'fake acid attack' as they stood outside a mosque.

Police are investigating the incident as a suspected racially aggravated assault after thugs threw liquid from a car outside the Bashir Ahmed Masjid mosque in Southampton.

CCTV footage shows the women, dressed in traditional Muslim clothing, wiping themselves down in panic as the black car speeds away.

The women are said to be "shaken" after the incident, which took place at around 2pm on Tuesday.

One of the victims released a statement through the mosque urging others to be on their guard.

The statement said: "Sisters just to warn you to be careful when u are out and about, you all know about the recent acid attacks in London.

"Today my friend and I were standing outside Bashir Masjid in Portswood, waiting to be picked up when a group of men in a black car drove past us and threw water at us.

"We are both OK because it was only water, but if they get away with doing stuff like this then it could embolden them to next time use bleach or acid."
