Whether you believe in ghosts or not - the paranormal always seems to spark furious debates between those who believe and the sceptics.
Here is a round up of eight spooky "ghost" sightings which have been reported in the last year.
1. Mum believes photo of her holding her son has been touched by the "ghost" of her dad
Laura Clarke, 34, claimed that in a snapshot of her with her three-year-old son Theo, she appears to have an extra arm while Theo has one more leg than normal.
The mum-of-four lost her father Terry shortly after Theo was born and believed the extra limbs were a sign of her father letting him know "he's here".
2. "Ghost baby" pictured allegedly claiming into 18-month-old's cot
Spooked mum Laura Haigh claimed in June that she saw a "ghost baby" sleeping next to 18-month-old Sebastian Evans in June.
The 39-year-old said she also saw the chilling figure wave at things in Sebastian's room as she checked on her son's through a video baby monitor.
3. "Ghost" appears in mirror behind young woman in a dance studio
A creepy video appeared to show the moment a "ghost" appeared in the mirror of a dance studio.
Like a scene from a horror film, the reflection of a woman who is sitting down appears to turn its face ans stands up.
The young woman is seen to be completely unaware of what is going on behind her and walks out of the studio.
However a number of people have been quick to brand the video a "fake".
4. Family claim they finally have captured a snap of a "ghost boy" which has haunted their home for years
Mum Sally Watts claimed in June that her family has lived in the presence of an attention-seeking "ghost boy" for years and said they finally caught a snap of him.
She said she was left feeling “freaked out” after spotting a creepy child-like figure stood behind her in a photo taken by her daughter Charlotte three years ago.
In the picture, Sally, now 40, was celebrating her then-10-year-old daughter Grace’s birthday – while the boy-shaped figure appears to lurk at her shoulder in the mirror’s reflection.
The astounded mum believes it could be the spirit of a ghoul she says has lived with them for 12 years in their old home, playing cheeky tricks and even interacting with her own children.
5. Ghosthunter claims to have spotted a "ghoul" in a picture he took at an abandoned mental asylum
Phillip Barron, 45, said in May he was taking a group picture during a tour of a disused mental asylum in Liverpool when he spotted an unwanted photo-bomber.
Philip claimed the picture showed a girl with a shadow over her.
When he showed other members of the group, Philip claimed no one recognised who she was.
6. "Ghostly" figure is spotted sitting cross-legged in the middle of a quiet road
Chilling footage allegedly captured an eerie figure sitting in the middle of a road in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
The macabre scene was was captured using a dashcam at night on the road between the Taman Tasik Perdana and Bukit Tunku areas of Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
As the car rounds a bend, a figure can be seen sitting cross-legged in the centre of the road.
7. Creepy face spotted hiding in a lamppost
Residents living in Salem, Massachusetts in the US were left freaked out after the Mayor shared a picture of a "face" hiding in a street lamppost.
Mayor Kim Driscoll tweeted a snap of the freakish vision, captioning the image: "Anybody else see a face in this light?...Totally eerie, eh."
The post was quickly retweeted, with many agreeing with her that the odd apparition looked like a face.
8. College claim to have eerie video of a "ghost" surfing the net
Pupils and teachers at a west Yorkshire college were given a fright after claiming to have caught a "ghost" surfing the net in a classroom.
The eerie video captures the moment the figure appears to sit attentively in front of a computer in the classroom at Stockton Riverside College in Thornaby-on-Tees, North Yorks.
Though it was claimed the spectre was merely a reflection from another classroom.
