DRUNKEN Brits and neo-Nazi Germans rampaging through Majorca will be "ruthlessly" dealt with, the new mayor has vowed.

Antoni Noguera, 37, who became the mayor of the Balearic capital Palma de Majorca a month ago, told German media he is sick and tired of boozed-up "scum" tourists descending on the resorts of Magaluf, Playa de Palma and El Arenal.

He said he is especially frustrated with neo-Nazis with obvious offensive tattoos visiting the island.

He said: "The German people are welcome. It is only this minority, which we don't want. It is the tourism of drunkenness, violence and sometimes even the neo-Nazis. And with Nazis: zero tolerance!"

Noguera, originally a social education specialist, called Germans "scum" in earlier comments which were scrutinised in German media.

Noguera said: "Yes, I called them scum. But I want to relativise [sic] it a bit. Most Germans are decent, civilised and friendly."

He added: "They come here because there is a travel offer based on excessive alcohol consumption. This focuses on 200 to 300 metres at Playa de Palma.

"We have now spoken with the entrepreneurs to isolate these types of hotels. We also talked to the venues and asked them to reorient their business.

"We will adopt more restrictive guidelines, which should be in force next season. This type of tourism must be isolated and have an end."

Two weeks ago, Noguera met with the German consul Sabine Lammers and British vice-consul Lucy Gorman, asking them to do more to prevent tourist thugs from their countries ruining resorts as Magaluf, Playa de Palma and El Arenal.

This month has seen a number of violent incidents on the island including a man firing a shotgun at a pub and a man with a hammer attacking a group of German tourists.

Earlier this month footage emerged of two groups of German men brawling while on holiday there.

Footage shows gangs of men arguing in the street on the promenade of the beach S’Arenal, before a brutal brawl broke out.

Security personnel dealing first-hand with German and British thugs said this year's problems are much worse than ever before.

One anonymous bouncer said that it has never been as bad as this year with many pubs adding extra security staff.

A waiter, who also wished to stay anonymous, said: "There are some damn lousy cocaine and synthetic drugs this year which makes some people aggressive."

But Spanish police officers have been accused of being heavy-handed in tackling the problem after they beat British holidaymakers on the party island of Majorca for singing.

Video footage shows a policeman running towards clubbers before attacking them with a baton last week.
