HEARTS fans chanted “There’s only one Lee Rigby” in the opening game of the season today as they rallied to condemn a shocking fan video.
Supporters could be heard singing the song in support of the murdered Fusilier during the league opener in Glasgow.
“Such behaviour in no way represents Celtic Football Club or our supporters.
“We understand this incident is now subject to an ongoing police enquiry.
Meanwhile Northumbria Police said earlier this week that they had launched a probe into the video, which had been shared on social media.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re aware of the chants that were made and are looking into these to see if any criminal offences took place and will take necessary action.”
We revealed earlier this week how one of the men involved in the shameful video faces
Plumber Aidan McAdam, 23, has been suspended by bosses at Mears Group, who have launched a probe into his behaviour.
A spokesman for the firm, which maintains and repairs social housing, said: “I can confirm that he has been suspended and we are carrying out an internal investigation.”
-An earlier version of this article stated that Celtic fans had been chanting that there was "only one Lee Rigby". We have been informed that it was Hearts fans who were leading the chant, and are happy to make this clear.
