Defiant fans chant ‘There’s only one Lee Rigby’ at Celtic game in response to shocking video showing supporters yelling ‘You won’t be f*****g drumming anymore’
Supporters could be heard singing the song during the league season opener in Glasgow today
HEARTS fans chanted “There’s only one Lee Rigby” in the opening game of the season today as they rallied to condemn a shocking fan video.
Supporters could be heard singing the song in support of the murdered Fusilier during the league opener in Glasgow.
The chant comes a week after Hoops fans were filmed belting out “F*** Lee Rigby” and “You won’t be f*****g drumming anymore” on the streets of Sunderland ahead of a friendly match last Saturday.
Tragic Lee, 25, was murdered with knives and a machete by fanatics Michael Adebolajo, 26, and Michael Adebowale, 22, in London.
Celtic bosses condemned the clip and vowed to crack down on the thugs who shamed the club.
The club released a statement saying it was “appalled” by recent events.
The statement said: “Clearly everyone at Celtic is appalled by these events.
“Such behaviour in no way represents Celtic Football Club or our supporters.
“We understand this incident is now subject to an ongoing police enquiry.
Meanwhile Northumbria Police said earlier this week that they had launched a probe into the video, which had been shared on social media.
Plumber Aidan McAdam, 23, has been suspended by bosses at Mears Group, who have launched a probe into his behaviour.
A spokesman for the firm, which maintains and repairs social housing, said: “I can confirm that he has been suspended and we are carrying out an internal investigation.”
