Amir Khan’s family PREDICTED bitter love split just months ago and are ‘relieved’ boxer has ended it with ‘evil’ Faryal Makhdoom
AMIR Khan's family predicted the boxing champion’s marriage breakdown just months ago and are now “hugely relieved” he ended it.
The boxer's dad, Sajjad Khan, and his younger brother Haroon revealed they were in a mosque for Friday prayers when the sporting hero sensationally announced the end of his marriage to model wife Faryal Makhdoom on social media.
Following their explosive split last night, his family, who hailed it as "a huge relief", told how they were desperately trying to contact the 30-year-old British boxer - who is currently in Dubai - to check on how he is coping.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online today, his brother Haroon, 25, an amateur boxer who is happily married, said: “This is a shock but, if true, not unexpected.
"We’ve heard the rumours and we’re trying to find out exactly what’s happened.
"If they have split up it will be a huge relief to our family."
The former light-welterweight world champion shocked sister Tabinda Khan said she “had no idea” if and why her brother had split from his wife-of-four years.
She added: “Our family will be wanting to find out what’s going on.
"She’s caused us trouble in the past but I try not to get involved and let our dad deal with it.”
It was only months ago when Khan's father Sajjad told The Sun Online he predicted his son and his wife - who wed in May 2013 - would break up.
Sajjad, 55, who has played a large part in Amir’s rise from Olympian to professional boxer, said in January: “Their marriage is heading the wrong way, probably for divorce.”
He likened his daughter-in-law to “a loose cannon", saying: “We never know when she’ll explode and what pack of lies will come next!”
In December last year, Sajjad warned: “Sooner or later he will just want out.The writing’s on the wall.
"She is pushing Amir to the limit with her accusations and lies and I feel very sorry for my son. It’s not fair.”

Sajjad previously told how he hoped the high-profile pair could sort things out but as the months went by he feared this would be futile.
At the time he said: “I don’t want to see them get divorced for their daughter’s sake.
"No parents want to see their child’s marriage end but are Amir and Faryal happy?
"I don’t know but looking at the way it is I don’t think so. I hope they can sort things out because if there is a divorce there’s only one person who suffers, the child. They have a beautiful daughter.”
“I hope they don’t get divorced, absolutely not. I hope they live happily after for the rest of their lives. But, honestly, I can’t see this happening.”
Sajjad and wife Falak from Bolton, Lancs, had recently patched up their fractured relationship with their son after blaming his wife Makhdoom for trying to tear it apart.
Sajjad, the boxer’s former manager, said: “She’s a gold digger and she’s very false, in fact she’s 100 per cent fake and my son and we are all finally seeing through her.
"She is trying to come between us, she is trying to break up the very close relationship we have with Amir. She is a very evil woman.”
He added: “I have given and taken with her. We all have. All she wants is the limelight.
"The continuous accusations will be making my son think.
"He’s tried his best to calm things down but she goes against him. Sooner or later I wouldn’t be surprised if she he just wants out.”
Amir’s parents even moved out of the family home they shared with the couple in a bid to give them the “space they need” to repair their crumbling marriage.
Khan and his wife, who have a three-year-old daughter, have both in the past publicly accused each other of being love cheats.
