A FORMER Miss England finalist has been forced to shut down her business after selling illegal weight loss products including “miracle coffee”.
Model Charlotte Thomson told her thousands of fans she wanted “everyone to know the truth” about the company.
The businesswoman, who lives in Portreath, Cornwall, started her own branch of the company in January 2017.
But she was left shocked when she was visited by Trading Standards to break the news.
Charlotte said she wanted to raise awareness to stop other people making similar mistakes that could lead to "very serious" consequences.
She said: "I want everyone to know the truth, I want everyone who is watching this to know the truth. I think it's important.
"I had a visit this week from Trading Standards, I was in my dressing gown holding my little puppy, just got out the shower, just having a normal day thinking everything was fine and I had two officers at the door, including an enforcement officer, telling me that I'm trading illegally."
Charlotte added: "This is a decision that I have not taken lightly, but I have basically been told by Trading Standards that I cannot sell these products anymore, I cannot be associated with this company anymore, because it is trading illegally in the UK. That is a fact."
The officers told Charlotte that the products she was selling were not registered in the UK and were not allowed to be sold here.
While Charlotte said that the products she was selling were "fantastic" and "proven to work", she said that she has now made the decision to "walk away" from the company.
She added: “My business has been completely taken away from me, out of my control and I'm devastated. But, I've got to move on. I'm not the first this has happened to, and I certainly won't be the last.
“And this is why I am trying to get the message across, because there will be more, there will be more knocks on doors, whether it's in Cornwall or London or wherever.
"They're watching and they know what we're doing and unfortunately we have been misled and we have been told a pack of lies, and now we are in a situation and it's not the fat cats at the top that are worried about this, it's the girls that have been working their arses off, like me."
