And probed on her infamous £300 toilet seat Baroness Scotland insisted she had no idea why that price was listed amongst the renovations and suggested it could be the bill for new toilet seats for every loo in her vast central London house.

In her first interview since the scandal rocked the bloc of 53 nations headed up by the former Labour cabinet minister, she told The Guardian: “I’ve been absolutely traduced.”

And she claimed: “I think there has been a campaign to do that – it is quite extraordinary.”

She added: “It’s unfair to refer to me as Baroness Brazen on a false premise that I have been profligate.”

And she slammed the media for questioning her big bills: “I am amazed they think this is a proper issue for a secretary general of an international organisation to be consumed by.”

And she claimed that her male predecessors did not face similar scrutiny.

When asked if she believed she was being targeted because she was a black woman, she claimed that was for “others to say.”

She added: “I’ve always been really focused on my career, doing what I can and allowing other people’s sexism, racism and prejudice to be their problem and not mine.”
