A BOATLOAD of African immigrants stunned holidaymakers when they landed on a packed Spanish beach in the middle of the day and ran past the crowds.

An estimated 30 men, believed to be mostly sub-Saharan Africans, were filmed sprinting away from the inflatable Zodiac dinghy after crossing from Morocco to Europe.

The group landed on Playa de los Alemanes - Germans' Beach - near Tarifa in southern Spain at around 2pm yesterday afternoon as tourists enjoyed one of the hottest days of the year so far.

Even though the footage suggests most of the men were from sub-Saharan Africa, local reports said they were Moroccan.

The surreal video, taken by one of the beach-goers, shows the black dinghy pulling up to the shore.

Confused holidaymakers walked towards the boat as the large group of men jump into the shallow water and jog up the beach.

While most of the group dodged tourists in a bid to make it on to the mainland, a couple of the men stayed behind with the boat in order to pull it to shore.

The whereabouts of the men is currently unknown.

Police union chiefs claimed Civil Guard had been powerless to stop the beach drop because a lack of resources meant only one officer had been in the area at the time.

The numbers of refugees reaching the coast of Spain’s southern Andalucia region by boat has rocketed in recent months.

Earlier this year it emerged the number of migrants reaching the province of Malaga in the first six months of 2017 - 749 people - had almost equalled the number for the whole of the previous year.

Yesterday’s incident came just hours after another 15 migrants on two boats were rescued in the Mediterranean in the eight mile stretch of water that separates southern Spain from Morocco.

The news comes as the bodies of 29 African refugees were found in shallow graves in Shabwa, Yemen, who are believed to have been pushed off a boat by a people smuggler

As many as 50 people could have died in the incident as 100 were forced on a boat in bad weather, according to the UN.

The bodies were buried by survivors of the stormy weather and some were as young as 16.

On Monday nearly 200 sub-Saharan Africans managed to reach Spanish soil after storming a border crossing between Morocco and Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta opposite Gibraltar.

CCTV footage showed a police officer suffering a broken leg as he tried to trip one of the men sprinting through a glass door they had forced open.

Local officials later announced that because of “migratory pressures” they were closing the border crossing, known as the Tarajal crossing, for a week to Moroccan traders who rely on it to make a living.

Germans’ Beach, or Playa de los Alemanes in Spanish, got its nickname because of the number of Germans who have traditionally lived there.

The area was developed by German and Swiss entrepreneurs.
