Barcelona attack – Ex-Holby City actress Laila Rouass ‘hid in restaurant freezer’ after being caught up in terror
Holby city actress Laila Rouass was caught up in the deadly terror attack in Barcelona and found herself "hiding in a restaurant freezer" to avoid the carnage.
The wife of snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan, 46, took to social media during the atrocity in the Catalan capital - which killed at least 13 people and left 100 injured.
Tweeting directly during the sick van assault in Las Ramblas, she said: "In the middle of the attack. Hiding in a restaurant freezer. Happened so fast. Praying for the safety of everyone here."
Laila also posted a video of helicopters flying overhead, adding: "Gunshots just heard. Armed police running down the street looking for someone."
In a series of further tweets, she wrote: "The whole of Las Ramblas and surrounding roads in lock down with armed police everywhere," and "hearing one person has been shot."
She added: "Thank you to the staff at the restaurant for staying calm and keeping us safe. I love you Barcelona."
