Barcelona attack – Why are Twitter users posting hundreds of cute KITTEN pics in response to terror bloodbath?
CAT photos are being shared online in "solidarity" with the Barcelona terror attack that killed at least 13 people.
Twitter users are posting the images instead of using harrowing photos taken in the aftermath of the horror in Las Ramblas when rampaging terrorists mowed down pedestrians.
The attack was followed just hours later by a second car ramming atrocity after five jihadis - later shot dead by police - ploughed into innocents in coast resort Cambrils.
Web users began sharing the cute images after Spanish police warned social media users not to share photos of victims.
They also started posting the cat images to confuse suspects following police hashtags to find out more about ongoing investigations.
One user explaining: “If the terrorists are following the hashtag to gather police info, they only see cats.”
Another tweeted: "We will post cute cat photos so that the murderers do not exploit the blood spilled and the pain caused.”
While one said: "Help the police. Tweet a cat #Barcelona.”

At least 14 people have died and more than 100 are injured after two car ramming terror attacks in Las Ramblas and Cambrils.
