Instances are getting more frequent and escalating in danger.

There were 620 gun incidents on US roads in 2016, with Florida topping the list at 147, figures reveal.

Sgt Kim Montes, of Florida Highway Patrol, said: “British tourists must be especially aware that drivers in this state are allowed to carry guns in their vehicles.

“Incidents are often over fairly simple things like someone has been cut off, or is going too slow or there is a dispute over a lane.”
