Brit found dead with no shoes on and half naked on waste ground in Tenerife after ‘carjacking woman on holiday’
Cops are investigating the incident after 30-year-old Kevin Daffurn was found next to a motorway on the Canary island after an alleged carjacking incident
THIS is the first picture of Brit tourist Kevin Daffurn, found dead on waste ground in Tenerife after a suspected carjacking rampage.
The dad of one, 30, is suspected of downing drink and drugs before stealing a couple’s car and crashing it on a busy motorway.
The wife was in the passenger seat of the Mitsubishi waiting for her husband when she was forced to leap out as a stranger got in and drove off.
A cop source said: “The man crashed and tried to steal another car, then a motorbike. He ended up running along the hard shoulder before jumping over the central reservation as traffic came to a standstill in the chaos.”
Hours later Daffurn, of Harthill, Lanarkshire, was spotted lying dead in a field. He was barefoot and wearing just a pair of shorts.
It was only later that detectives linked him to the mayhem that had occurred earlier in the day.
It came just a day after he had arrived on the Spanish holiday isle with brothers Raymond and Ryan for a five-day fun break.
Immediately they began knocking back booze. It’s believed Daffurn may also have taken drugs during an all-night bender.
Local cops later received reports that a holidaymaker had forced his way into the Mistubishi outside San Eugenio Shopping Centre in the resort of Costa Adeje and driven off — with the car owner’s wife still in the passenger seat.
A police source said: “The driver had stopped outside the shops and got out of the motor for a moment but left the keys in the ignition.
“A man then got in and drove off, even though a woman was in the passenger seat.
“She had to leap from the moving vehicle because she feared she was possibly being kidnapped.
“The woman is Spanish. She suffered bruises and other injuries and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, she was not seriously hurt.”
The source told how the car thief then crashed the motor on a nearby motorway.
He said: “The carjacking and the events that followed were just crazy. It was like something out of a film.”
Detectives remain puzzled as to where Daffurn intended to go in the nicked Mitsubishi.
However, it’s thought he may have been heading towards Laguna Park apart-hotel near Playa de Las Americas, where he had a room.
But four hours after the motorway smash, his body was discovered by two tourists at a roundabout in Los Cristianos at 6pm on Friday.
He was still wearing his hotel’s all-inclusive wristband.

The police source said: “Initially, it was not thought that this man was connected to the earlier incidents.
“But later, because of his clothes and how close it was to the crash scene, it was confirmed he was the person responsible for the carjacking, motorway smash and attempts to steal another car and motorbike.
“Investigators are still awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“But the man’s inexplicable actions obviously give rise to suspicions he was out of his mind on drink and possibly drugs.
“His friends told police during a quick interview that he was a very aggressive person after alcohol.”
The insider added: “The dead man arrived in Tenerife on Thursday with two British friends.”
It’s understood Daffurn has a baby son with fiancée Sabrina Stewart.
On Friday, his brother Raymond posted a holiday snap showing two tumblers of 35 per cent proof spirit Jagermeister and a can of energy drink Red Bull — the ingredients for powerful “Jagerbomb” shots.
It was captioned: “One hour in, half the bottle gone . . . roll on the night, party time for next five days.”
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who has died in Tenerife.”
Last night relatives were too shocked to speak about their loss.
One would only comment: “The family is grieving just now.”
