Cops launch probe into sudden death of girl, 9, ‘found by another child who thought she was sleeping’

Cops rushed to the scene of the tragedy in Glasgow at around 2pm yesterday and launched an immediate investigation.

A NINE-year-old girl was last night found dead at a house in Glasgow.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and officers are working to establish the cause of death.

But they say the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

an uncle as telling reporters outside the home that she was discovered by another child.

The relative added: "There is nothing suspicious, the police are doing their job, they need to investigate these things.

"She has actually been discovered by another child who thought she was sleeping. An adult tried to wake her and found she was unconscious.

"It has just been an awful tragedy that nobody could help."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 1.45pm police were called to the sudden death of a nine-year-old girl within a property in Dumbreck Road.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time."

They said a post mortem would be held and report made to the procurator fiscal.
