A SEEDY school governor who romped with a life-like child sex dolls he imported from China has been jailed for 16 months in a landmark ruling.
Ex-church warden David Turner, 72, was arrested after border forces intercepted a three foot doll with fishnet body stocking at Stansted Airport in December 2016.
A raid on Turner’s house revealed two more dolls, dressed in children’s clothes, as well as more than 34,000 images of child sex abuse, Canterbury Crown Court heard.
Officers also found 29 fictional stories – which described sexual abuse of children but fell outside the Obscene Publications Act.
Jailing him for 16 months Judge Simon James described the dolls as “lifelike and repugnant” after the court heard he had used at least two to carry out his “grotesque fantasies”.
Analysis of Turner’s computers revealed he had viewed websites selling items advertised as “flat chest love doll” and “mini silicone sex doll 65cms little breasts”.
The charge he was jailed over relates to the importing of a 3ft 10in doll, which he had bought clothes for.
Judge James added: “The word ‘doll’ does not adequately convey what you imported.
“Frankly, without seeing one, it is difficult to convey just how lifelike and repugnant they are.
“Your deliberate seeking out of items designed to recreate sex with children is a significant aggravating feature and demonstrates that having become dissatisfied with two-dimensional imagery you have moved on to seek to act out your grotesque fantasies.”
The court heard that when interviewed by cops Turner had admitted viewing indecent images of children aged between four and 10 as well as “secretly” taking photographs of girls aged six to 11 in public places.
In June Turner pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children but declined to plea over the doll in the hope a judge would rule it was not indecent or obscene.
The judge, in the first ruling of its kind, decided it was, and Turner pleaded guilty to importing the £1,000 child sex toy from China.
Judge James added: “However repugnant right-thinking people may find it, there appears to be a significant number of people who have a sexual interest in children.
“Their appetite for images depicting the rape and serious sexual abuse of children has created a market place which results in real children being subjected to the most horrifying abuse.
“There is absolutely no doubt that you are one of those whose unnatural interests serve to fuel this repugnant trade.”
Turner has been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
