She said: "That was a very very dangerous bomb. It partially detonated, it had a large quantity of explosive, and it was packed with shrapnel. So it could have been so much worse.”

The crude improvised explosive device (IED) only partially detonated inside the packed Tube carriage last Friday.

The bucket bomb had been stuffed in a Lidl bag and left by the carriage door near the rear of the train exploded.

Terrified passengers were seen running and screaming from the tracks as witnesses described seeing a giant fireball flying down the train.

Some suffered facial burns after the horror inside the carriage as it was sat at the West London station.

Wires could be seen dangling from the crude device - which also had a timer.

The bomb contained a powerful homemade explosive favoured by warped terrorists called Mother of Satan.

It was used in the Manchester Arena atrocity that killed 22 people as nails and shrapnel were blasted through the crowd of children and adults.

In total, six people have been held by cops over the attack and four remain in custody.

The commissioner admitted to LBC today that the counter-terror effort is putting a "huge strain" on  the Met Police.

She said six potential terror attacks have been foiled over the last few months.

The UK has been hit with four attacks by terrorists so far this year - killing 36 people.

The country was rocked by the Manchester bombing in May as well as attacks at Finsbury Park, London Bridge and Westminster Bridge.
