Man fractures his PENIS during passionate romp with his girlfriend – but only notices 12 hours later

The case, published in the British Medical Journal, noted that the fracture was surrounded by a build-up of fluid that caused the man's willy to be 'grossly swollen'

IT'S enough to make any man cross his legs and vow to keep his pants on for good.

The patient, who is not named, felt a "snapping sensation" but claims he did not feel any symptoms until 12 hours later.

Incredibly, he was able to continue having sex and maintained his erection - despite the injury usually leaving men in agony.

It was only when he penis and scrotum became bruised that he realised something was wrong and took himself to A&E, according to the BMJ report.

He had also noticed blood in his wee which was painful to pass.

A penile fracture occurs when an erect penis is hit with considerable force.

The penis is made up of three cylindrical tubes, two of which fill up with blood when a man becomes aroused.

The tissue surrounding these tubes also expands.

But, if the penis is hit with force - such as a woman's pelvic bone when thrusting a little too enthusiastically - it can bend and cause a pressure overload in the tubes and in turn cause a rupture.

SNAP, CRACKLE, POP These are the most dangerous sex positions for a man – and boys they could cause THIS horrific injury

In this case the man had a two by three centimetre tear in one of the tubes.

The fracture was surrounded by a build-up of fluid that caused the man's willy to be "grossly swollen", the report said.

An ultrasound was used to locate the exact position of the fracture, which was located due to a blood clot and a build-up of urine in the penis tissue.

He was referred to a urologist for surgery.

The man recovered in two weeks.

The report said: "Penile fracture with urethral injury is an uncommon subtype of a rare urological emergency.

"During an erection, the fascia of the erectile bodies (tunica albuginea) is stretched thinly and with a sudden torque during vigorous sexual intercourse this fascia can rupture."
