Jeremy Corbyn ally Clive Lewis filmed growling ‘Get on your knees b***h’ at hard-left party sparking fury from fellow Labour MPs

The MP was criticised by Labour bosses after the video of his behaviour emerged

ONE OF Jeremy Corbyn's top allies was today reprimanded by Labour after he was filmed saying "Get on your knees bitch" at a party hosted by hard-left group Momentum.

Clive Lewis apologised after senior Labour women slammed his "joke", saying there is "no excuse" for making light of sexist violence.

The former shadow minister - a passionate supporter of Mr Corbyn - made the comments on stage at the closing party for Momentum's annual conference in Brighton last month.

Mr Lewis was taking part in a mock game show alongside other left-wing activists and freelance journalists.

The hosts handed out several cans of beer to those taking part, saying: "We are making sure that our contestants are all boozed up to their eyeballs."

They then offered a beer to a young man from the audience after he agreed to keep score for the game.

After the female hosts told the man to sit on the stage, Mr Lewis growled: "Get on your knees, bitch!"

His comment was met with nervous laughter as the hosts jokily told the MP: "Please may I remind you that this is meant to be a safe space, thank you."

When the video came to light today, several well-known female MPs from Mr Lewis' party spoke of their horror at his behaviour.

Stella Creasy tweeted: "It's not OK. Even if meant as joke, reinforces menace that men have the physical power to force compliance."

Yvette Cooper added: "No excuse for saying this, whatever context."

Former deputy leader Harriet Harman wrote on Twitter simply: "Inexplicable. Inexcusable. Dismayed."

Labour bosses slapped down Mr Lewis for the comments - a spokesman said: "The Labour party condemns the language used by Clive Lewis.

"It was completely unacceptable and falls far short of the standard expected of Labour MPs."

Mr Lewis said: "I apologise unreservedly for the language I used at an event in Brighton last month. It was offensive and unacceptable."

The MP for Norwich South was shadow defence secretary under Mr Corbyn until he resigned in order to vote against the triggering of Article 50.

He is a major supporter of Momentum, the hard-left pressure group set up by activists from Mr Corbyn's leadership campaign.
