What did Bruno Langley do, why was he fired from Coronation Street and what sexual assault charges did he plead guilty to?
CORONATION Street star Bruno Langley was convicted of sexually assaulting two women at a Manchester bar.
The actor, 34, was axed from the ITV soap in the wake of the allegations.
Who is Bruno Langley?
Bruno Langley, 34, plays hunk Todd Grimshaw in Coronation Street.
He made his Corrie debut in 2001 and was the first openly gay character in the soap.
In 2013 he split from Victoria Roscoe, mum to his son, ten.
In 2017 Bruno revealed it was tough to find love as girls think they are dating Todd.
Bruno, of Altrincham, Gtr Manchester, vowed he would not be shy in his quest for love.
He told TV’s Loose Women last year: “There have been a few times when I’ve seen a really nice girl, not said anything and always regretted it.
“These days I always go up and try to be a gentleman.”
What sexual assault charges did he plead guilty to?
Langley appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court in November where he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting two women, one in her 20s and another in her 30s.
The offences took place during a night out at Band on the Wall bar in the city's Northern Quarter on October 1.
Prosecutor Karen Saffman said that at about 1am his first victim had gone upstairs to collect her coat before intending to leave.
As she made her way back towards the stairs Langley grabbed her crotch, the court was told.
“He grabbed me properly. He grabbed me on the crotch,” the woman later told police.
She said she had thought about hitting him, but was in a state of shock.
The victim detailed how Langley had grabbed her over clothes.
Ms Saffman said a friend of Langley's had apologised for his actions.
The second victim said Langley grabbed her "forcefully" leaving her feeling "disgusted".
In mitigation Langley's solicitor said he was not a "serial groper" describing his actions as an "alcohol fuelled" and "isolated" incident.
Langley has been slapped with a 12 month community to order that will see him given a curfew and electronic tag.
He will also be placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and must may his victims £250 each.
District Judge Mark Hadfield said: "On that evening your conduct was quite disgraceful, indeed degrading.
"On a number of occasions you sexually assaulted females whilst being on licensed premises."
What else emerged?
A young woman has spoken out about her experience dating Langley as a teenager, admitted he was "creepy".
The woman, who was 16 at the time, started dating the former Corrie star just weeks after she left school.
She said Bruno Langley - who was 29 when they were seeing each other - asked the 16-year-old girl to read him passages from 50 Shades of Grey on their first date.
She told how the actor even joked about how young she looked.
Now 21, she recalled: “When he was buying the cinema tickets, the cashier said, ‘Two adults?’ And he laughed and said, ‘Well, not really’.”
The young woman said she ended the relationship when he became too clingy but he continued to pester her with texts.
She added: “I found out from a friend about the charges and I wasn’t surprised.”
What action did ITV take against Bruno Langley?
A spokesman for the soap confirmed Bruno's contract had been terminated.
The spokesman said: "Bruno Langley is no longer contracted to Coronation Street.”
It is understood the move has left soap bosses scrambling to reshoot scenes which are meant to feature his character Todd Grimshaw.
An insider said: “Crew were heard discussing using a body double.
"New scenes show Adam Barlow telling Ken that Todd has left Weatherfield with his young ward Summer.
“Scenes featuring Bruno will continue to be screened until Christmas Eve (December 24). These were filmed before our inquiry started. Subsequent storylines beyond this point have been rewritten.”
How have fans reacted to Bruno Langley's dismissal?
More than 1,000 fans signed a petition calling on ITV to review its decision to sack the actor.
The Change.org petition started by Karen Cochrane says: "He is a fabulous actor and a major part of Corrie, and it won’t be the same without him, so please please give him his job back!"
