Mel B ‘appeared in 20 sex tapes with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte’ but she claims he DRUGGED her beforehand
MEL B has appeared in at least 20 sex tapes with estranged husband Stephen Belafonte but she claims he drugged her beforehand, a court heard yesterday.
The ex-Spice Girl’s lawyers say some of the sex acts shown in the videos are "non-consensual" but Belafonte's lawyers say all the videos were consensual.
The 42-year-old America's Got Talent star told the LA court Belafonte drugged her before video-recording their sexual exploits and had at least 56 videos - a third of which were “of a sexual nature”.
Susan Wiesner, one of Mel B's legal team, said that “90 per cent” of the sex tapes were of Mel B, adding that there may be more tapes which Belafonte has not yet disclosed.
Belafonte's lawyer Philip Cohen said in court that Mel B claims her husband gave her drugs before videotaping her having sex.
Cohen said that when she was questioned by Belafonte's lawyers, Mel claimed “she was drugged by Mr Belafonte”.
The lawyer said it was Mel’s contention that “for 10 years Ms Brown tried to get out of this relationship and every time she tried to get out she was threatened with these tapes".
He added that “Ms Brown believed she was drugged through much or most of the relationship and much or most of those videos”.
Mel B's lawyers said that Cohen was exaggerating her claims.
The singer has also claimed that her and Belafonte's nanny, Lorraine Gilles, was having an affair with her husband.
She alleges that Belafonte got the nanny pregnant, then paid her £241,000 to have an abortion.

The popstar took out a restraining order against her former nanny on April 3.
But Judge Mark Juhas ordered yesterday that Gilles' lawyer will now get a chance to probe Mel B for four hours in a deposition.
Judge Juhas said that the au pair was “entitled to find out from Ms Brown why she thinks all the things she thinks”.
However, Belafonte will be paying for a lawyer to referee the deposition - as Gilles only earns £1,650 per month working at a restaurant, the court heard.
Though Cohen said that Belafonte was also strapped for cash, Wiesner claimed his bank statements showed “between $20,000 and $40,000 being deposited into his bank account from some source”.
He added that Mel B was “quite simply broke”.
Judge Juhas said Mel B was claiming that her nanny plotted with Belafonte over the sex tapes and to control access to the singer’s belongings.
But Gilles' lawyer, Daniel Holzman, said she did not have any of the sex tapes and has “never had any videos” of Mel B.
The judge sternly ordered that he was going to get the case under control – after hearing “a lot of hyperbole” from Mel B's and Belafonte's lawyers.
He added: “This case has gotten a little bit out of control and I am going to do what I can to get it back to where it needs to be.”
Mel and Belafonte are set to go head-to-head at their divorce trial, which begins on November 6 and is set to last for two weeks.
During the trial, some of the sex tapes may be shown in court.
