Shamed Labour MP Jared O’Mara made sick joke about Queen Mother hours after her death
SHAMED Labour MP Jared O’Mara made a sick joke about the Queen Mother hours after she died.
O’Mara, suspended by his party over racist, sexist and homophobic remarks, called her and other royals “odious”.
In his anti-royal internet chat room rant he made fun of the fact the Queen Mum had died two months after the death of her daughter Princess Margaret.
He wrote: “What do you call two dead royals in the space of eight weeks? Answer — a start!”
O’Mara admitted his remarks were “not very nice, maybe even sick”.
But he said: “It’s not the individuals I dislike (with the exception of that oaf Prince Philip!) It’s the collective and everything they stand for.
“They’re so selfish, they don’t care about us . . . affluence and effluence are synonymous! If that odious family were nice, caring thoughtful role models, like the royalists say, they’d stop taking public money and abdicate!”
Details of his 2002 tirade emerged as Labour launched an investigation into the new Sheffield Hallam MP’s behaviour. Ingrid Seward, editor of Majesty magazine, said: “It is a cheap shot from someone nobody has heard of trying to make a name for himself.
He is a pathetic specimen of humanity

“He is obviously a pathetic specimen of humanity. He is hitting at a family he knows is far too dignified to ever reply. It is the behaviour of the archetypal playground bully.
“It is such a low life thing to do. The ramblings of an idiotic man incapable of thinking of anything intelligent to say.” O’Mara, 35, was elected in June after defeating ex-Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg. He has not made a Commons speech.
The ex-nightclub DJ was suspended after the revelation of homophobic and misogynistic comments he made before becoming an MP.
He was also accused of calling a woman an “ugly bitch”.
Labour initially refused to suspend O’Mara but leader Jeremy Corbyn was forced to act when more comments emerged.
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said yesterday: “Jared O’Mara has never uttered a word in the House of Commons and I think that’s probably been for the best.
“His distasteful comments on the Queen Mother and members of the Royal Family are no surprise after the other views he has espoused.
“The list of people who dislike him is growing with every disclosure of his appalling views.”
Mr O’Mara’s office failed to reply to requests for a comment.
