Jeremy Corbyn must sack Labour MP Jared O’Mara now for his vile remarks
JEREMY Corbyn said yesterday there is “a culture where the abuse of women has often been accepted and normalised”. He was spot on.
If he has the courage of his convictions he must sack Labour MP Jared O’Mara today. No ifs. No buts.
Our revelation that he made jokes about the Queen Mother within hours of her dying is utterly vile.
We did not think it was possible for him to stoop any lower. We under-estimated him.
After The Sun’s story this week about sexual harassment in Westminster, Corbyn yesterday called for it to be “a turning point”. We agree.
So how can he square that with having an MP who jokes about rape and paedophilia?
An MP who thinks it is appropriate for his bouncers to hit women — and who spits “ugly bitch” at women he does not like.
O’Mara’s wretchedness has no place in our society — let alone in Parliament.
If Corbyn does not bin him now, then he will be guilty of accepting and normalising misogyny.
We won’t hold our breath.
Gender madness
IT is shocking that five public bodies have stopped recording people’s gender.
Can it be right that driving licences will no longer refer to a person’s sex?
It was already disturbing enough that the Office for National Statistics could ditch asking about gender in a 2021 survey — and that the Foreign Office has tried to ban the term “pregnant women”.
We are all for inclusiveness but authorities are now too terrified of causing offence and being sued.
This week, cops refused to reveal the biological sex of two transgender people suspected of punching a 60-year-old woman — for fear of getting it wrong.
We need a strong dose of common sense – quickly!
Stop claimants suffering
THE Government must get a handle on universal credit immediately.
Our story today about vulnerable young mum Lynda Gilbert nearly being driven to suicide shows the harshness of the six-week payment delay.
We back making hand-outs simpler — and incentivising people to work rather than claim dole is a noble idea.
But it is not working. Thousands are suffering.
If ministers do not act soon to make sure claimants get cash quickly enough once they switch to the new benefit, they will have a full-blown crisis on their hands.
