Police seal off part of a cross-Channel ferry after a terror alert as two loaded pistols discovered in a TOILET spark panic
Pistols were stashed on P&O’s Spirit of Britain vessel and spotted after it docked with up to 2,000 passengers
COPS sealed off part of a cross-Channel ferry after a terror alert yesterday when two loaded pistols were found in a toilet.
They were stashed on P&O’s Spirit of Britain vessel and spotted after it docked with up to 2,000 passengers in Dover.
It is unclear whether the guns were being smuggled into the UK or intended to be used in an attack on the ferry.
Police are now checking CCTV footage to identify who hid them.
A Port of Dover source said: “The guns were loaded and caused a great deal of concern when they were found.
“It is something that needs to be taken seriously with the terror threat level at severe.”
P&O said it was working with the police.
