THREE envelopes containing white powder has sparked an evacuation from the Scottish Parliament building.
MSPs and staff fled Holyrood as emergency services raced to the scene after a suspicious package sparked panic at 11.30am this morning.
The Sun understands a staff member in the office of Conservative Highlands and Islands MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston opened an envelope which was found to contain white powder.
There were also two further envelopes which appeared to be from the same sender, which were not opened.
These were believed to have been sent to Tory MSPs Liz Smith and Edward Mountain.
People were initially evacuated from the Tory floor of the four-storey MSP block, followed by other floors.
Police confirmed that the building in the centre of the capital had been evacuated.
Cops remain at the scene.
A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the Scottish Parliament building has been evacuated.
"We responded to a call around 11.32am.
"This is an ongoing incident."
A Parliament source said: “Parliament security were alerted and came running, followed by the police.”
