Shoppers slam Tesco for Christmas advert featuring a Muslim family… because the supermarket does NOT sell halal turkey
SHOPPERS have slammed Tesco for a Christmas advert featuring Muslims - when they don't sell halal turkeys.
The ad - released as part of the retailer's 'Everyone's Welcome' campaign - shows different families celebrating the festivities over a traditional Turkey dinner.
After one viewer was told there were no halal turkeys in Tesco they tweeted: "Confused - what's the point of having a muslim family in the ad if not including them by catering for them?"
Some viewers had complained because the advert features a Muslim family greeting each other with gifts ahead of the big day.
One said: "Tesco have just put an advert out showing families celebrating and enjoying Christmas dinner. Why was a Muslim family included in this ad?"
Another wrote: "Your Christmas advert features Muslims, but they do not celebrate Christian celebrations, so why?"
But Tesco have hit back at the viewers' comments - saying everyone should be able to celebrate the festive season.
A spokesman said: "Everyone is welcome at Tesco this Christmas and we're proud to celebrate the many ways our customers come together over the festive season."
Some disgruntled viewers also hit out at the supermarket for featuring a turkey dinner - because they're vegetarian.
One fumed: "@Tesco just seen your Xmas advert - you don't have a turkey for me, I'm vegetarian."
Another wrote: "I can imagine there's gonna be a few complaints from veggies/vegans about the @Tesco 'Everybody's Welcome' Christmas advert!"
