FORMER Manchester United star Liam Miller is battling cancer, according to pals of the footie ace.
Midfielder Miller, 36, has been treatmed in the US and is reportedly due to undergo chemotherapy in the UK.
BBC Sport pundit Tam McManus tweeted: "Awful news about Liam Miller keep the fingers crossed that he somehow pulls through.
"Was in the USA for treatment this month and flys back tomorrow to start chemo here. He’s still fighting it. Will say a prayer for him tonight."
McManus added: "He starts chemo tomorrow and is fighting hard really can’t go into any more detail than that out of respect for him and family. Praying he can get better."
It is reported Miller is suffering from pancreatic cancer.
The football world this morning rallied around the Irishman, who also turned out for Celtic and Sunderland.
Among the first to rally around Miller was ex-Celtic and Arsenal frontman John Hartson - who beat testicular cancer in 2009 after it had spread to his lungs and brain.
The Welshman said: "My thoughts are with Liam miller and his family this morning. Hope he can get through this difficult time of his life."
A tweet from United read: "The thoughts of everyone at Manchester United go out to Liam Miller and his loved ones at this difficult time."
Former club Celtic said: "The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Football Club are with Liam Miller and his family at this time."
Ex-England striker Chris Sutton said: "All thoughts and prayers go out to my old teammate Liam Miller tonight."
While Stoke playmaker Charlie Adam added: "Thoughts are with Liam Miller and his family at this tough time.#staystrong."
Fellow former United player Danny Higginbotham said: "If true very sad news about one of my former teammates Liam Miller.
"Thoughts with him and his family at this very difficult time."
Fellow Irish international Noel Hunt added: "Such sad news about my old Room mate Liam Miller, Pray to God he pulls through this battle with cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
Cork-born midfielder Miller started out his career at Celtic Park before catching the eye of Old Trafford, where he played 22 games under Sir Alex Ferguson and featured in a star-studded line-up including Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Paul Scholes.
He later moved on to Sunderland and QPR before playing for several Australian clubs and moving back to Cork City in 2015.
Miller retired from the game in 2016 and has been working on getting his UEFA training licence.
