EVERLASTING LOVE

Incredible images through the ages showing the dedication and love between the Queen and Prince Philip as the couple prepare to mark their 70th anniversary

The Duke of Edinburgh has been a near-constant at the Queenā€™s side since they first became pen-pals, and has watched her outlast 13 prime ministers and 11 US Presidents

THE QUEEN and Prince Philip have rewritten the record books since their marriage in 1947.

The 91-year-old Queen became the longest reigning British monarch in history last year, while Philip, 96, claimed the title of oldest-ever male member of the Royal Family.

The Duke of Edinburgh has been a constant at the Queenā€™s side, and has watched her outlast 13 prime ministers and 11 US Presidents.

The couple first met when Princess Elizabeth was 13, and Philip was a dashing young naval officer.

The pair soon became pen pals - andĀ eight years later they married in Westminster Abbey, in front of 2,000 guests in a ceremony broadcast to 200 million radio listeners worldwide.

As they approach their Platinum Anniversary later this month, we take a look back at a truly remarkable relationship in pictures.
