Porn star claims recovering drug addict Matthew Perry begged her for 50 prescription painkillers
A PORN star has claimed Friends actor and recovering drug addict Matthew Perry pleaded with her to get him 40 or 50 prescription painkillers.
Maddy O'Reilly said she received a series of Instagram messages from Perry, an ex-lover, asking if she knew anyone who could "help me purchase some pills".
The 27-year-old claims when she asked the actor what he'd be willing to pay he replied: "It depends which one (type of painkiller) is available. But... a lot."
The 48-year-old actor has spoken publicly about his battles with drug addiction and attempts at long-term recovery.
The adult actress said Perry first asked her out on a date after sending her a message out of the blue but then asked if she could help him get hold of "Vicaden/Roxy's/oxys" - referring to Vicodin, Roxicodone and OxyContin.
She : "I was shocked, I knew he is a recovering addict but it was coming out of nowhere. Why would he ask me something like that? It's not like we partied or I have a reputation for partying.
"Then it triggered, he just told me he was going through a detox and now he's asking for 40/50 pills, it was a red flag and I was worried.
"I am concerned for Matthew's well-being, we're having the same drugs problem back home in North Carolina, I've seen it destroy many people's lives. I would really hate to see something bad happen to him."
Messages appearing to be from the star's Instagram account show Perry asking Maddy: "Hi Maddy, it's Matthew Perry here. We met once. I wanted to know if you wanted to have dinner sometime."
He then appeared to be willing to prove his identity by talking on FaceTime.
A follow-up message said: "I won't be able to see you for another week or so. But, would you possibly have a contact for me that could help me purchase some pills?"
Messages revealed by Maddy show she said: "Sounds like you're jonesing."
Perry then appears to reply: "Ha. Not jonesing. But interested."
A follow-up message says: "I really was not trying to turn you into one (a drug dealer). Just wondering if you knew someone. Really did not mean to offend."
Perry is known to have entered addiction programmes for Vicodin in 1997 and 2001.
His weight plummeted to around 10 stone and Perry says he has little memory of shooting three seasons of Friends.
In 2013, Perry spoke about his battles with drink and drugs and said he was winning his battle against addiction.
He told ABC News: "Mostly it was drinking, you know, and opiates. I think I was pretty good at hiding it, you know, but, you know, eventually people were aware.
"I honestly recoil. It’s scary to look at that. I was a sick guy."
