Dad who groped girl in a pub twice walked free after judge heard he is a ‘family man’

A DAD who smirked as he twice put his hand up a pubgoer’s skirt walked free after a judge heard he was a “family man”.

He repeatedly groped her at the bar as she was ordering drinks on a night out with her boyfriend and pals.

Police were called to The Alchemist pub in Chester, where Smith lives, and arrested him.

He claimed to have been plastered, the city’s crown court heard.

His victim said: “Not once in my life have I felt so overwhelmed, humiliated, intimidated, but most of all, violated.”

The dad admitted sexual assault. The court heard he had no previous convictions and was racked with remorse.

Judge Nicholas Woodward told him: “You clearly seemed to find what you were doing was amusing.”

He ordered him to do 250 hours of unpaid work, pay £465 costs and abide by a curfew.

Smith was also put on the sex offenders’ register for five years.
