KEEP THE CHANGE

Moment fuming Domino’s pizza customer pays for £25 meal using 1,287 2p coins after ‘being hounded by store’

The dad was 'bombarded' with calls by the pizza chain and even received a call from cops chasing up the money

THIS is the bizarre moment a fuming Domino's customer paid for a £25 pizza - using just 2p coins.

Billy Martin was fed up of an ongoing feud over an outstanding payment so got his own back by dumping 1,287 coppers on the counter.

The dad-of-one had ordered a medium cheese and tomato pizza, mighty meat stuffed crust, potato wedges and a Fanta last Thursday.

But he claims the delivery driver left before he had the chance to give him the cash for it and assumed the payment must have been automatically taken from his bank account.

But the next day, Billy said he got a string of messages and calls from Domino's telling him he owed £25.74 for the meal.

The 23-year-old claims he tried explaining he was attending his girlfriend's gran's funeral and would have to pay the money when he got back on Sunday.

But he said he got six calls between Thursday and Sunday - including a phone call from police - so he decided to take matters into his own hands.

The disgruntled grounds worker changed up the cash into 2ps at his local bowling alley before taking it to the Domino's branch in Tamworth, Staffs.

Billy said: "They ruined my weekend so I decided to get my own back and pay the money I owed in 2ps.

"The whole thing was a nightmare and my girlfriend wasn't happy that I was spending the day on my phone trying to deal with the situation.

He added: "I asked for a receipt to prove I'd paid it but they told me I could have a receipt when I paid with proper money. They accepted the payment and I've heard no more about it.

"I'll never have a Domino's again, they made me feel like a criminal, and it was their fault."

A spokesman for Domino's said: "Our colleague mistakenly forgot to take payment for Mr. Martin’s order upon delivery, so called shortly after to request this, at which point Mr. Martin became abusive so our franchisee called the police.

"We understand when Mr. Martin came into to the store to make payment, he continued his aggressive behaviour.

"The welfare and safety of our colleagues is paramount therefore we’ve taken the decision not to accept any future orders from Mr. Martin.”
