Hammer killer among THREE escaped prisoners on the run from HMP Springhill
The escapees are not linked to each other but have all absconded from the same Buckinghamshire prison
A HAMMER killer has escaped from prison and is on the run - after being convicted after cutting the throat of his neighbour with a saw and beating him to death.
Nicholas Redding, 45, was sentenced to life in jail after tying Michael Fry to a chair and sawing into his neck, and is now one three escaped prisoners.
Up to 50 police officers were involved in the initial hunt for Redding, who was finally caught after BBC TV's Crimewatch UK featured a reconstruction of the horrific 1994 crime.
But he disappeared from HMP Springhill, Bucks., at the weekend as police try to find the violent killer.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We are appealing for the public's help in tracing a man who is wanted for escaping lawful custody.
"Nicholas Redding absconded from HMP Springhill on November 19. He is described as white, 6ft tall, of slim build, with dark brown hair and hazel coloured eyes.
"He is blind in his right eye which appears to be opaque. He has a West Country accent and has links to Dorset, Wiltshire, Avon and Somerset.
"The public is advised not to approach him but to call 999 if seen."
Another man on the run from the prison is Barry Robert Anderson.
He has been missing since November after being jailed for an aggravated burglary offence.
The public are advised not to approached the man described as white, 5ft 11ins, medium build, shaven light brown hair and has green eyes.
James Alan Philip Vaughan is the third man on the run.
He absconded from the prison on November 20 after being convicted for conspiracy to supply class A drugs.
He has links to Sussex areas, in particular Horsham, Hove, Brighton, Shoreham, Lewes. He also has links to Birmingham and Kent including Faversham, Maidstone, Rainham and Sidcup.
He is described as white, 5ft 9ins, heavy build, brown hair and has brown eyes. He has a large scar across his face from his forehead to his cheek.
