Cops were called and a 46-year-old man was found inside before being taken away and reported to prosecutors.

The bizarre incident happened shortly before midnight on Tuesday when the homeowner called cops.

Police tweeted about the incident, saying: "He broke into a house on Corsewall St, decided on a pit stop, ate half a pie and fell asleep covered in Doritos. He woke up in cuffs."

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 11.50pm on Tuesday police were called to Corsewall Street in Coatbridge after the homeowner discovered an intruder within their home.
"Police attended and a 46-year-old man is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal."
