LABOUR’S Shadow Education Secretary Angela Rayner has become a grandmother at 37.
The Ashton-under-Lyne MP announced the birth of her first grandchild in an early-morning tweet yesterday — and immediately dubbed herself “Grangela”.
Angela, who had son Ryan at 16, said: “At just before 6am today after an eventful evening, I became a grandma.”
In her maiden Commons speech after being elected in 2015 she recalled being told when she was 16 and pregnant that she would never amount to anything.
She joked: “If only they could see me now.”
Angela added: “Even though getting pregnant at 16 and having no qualifications is not the best start for anybody, you’ve got to understand that where my life was, it actually saved me from where I potentially could have been.
