What happened at Oxford Circus?

British Transport Police locked down the area around Oxford Circus Tube station after an incident at around 4.43pm.

Former Sun man Gavin Glicksman was at the scene and said: "There were lots of police in the area already because of the Royal Variety Performance at The Palladium nearby, so they were all over it quickly.

"There were lots of people sheltering inside shops on Carnaby Street and the nearby area."

Police believe the panic was triggered following an altercation between two men on a platform at Oxford Circus, one of the London Underground's busiest stations.

Two men have since handed themselves into police over the incident.
