MasterChef’s Michael O’Hare launches foul-mouthed tirade at customer who asked for refund

'My palette is about 10million times better than yours' -  O'Hare's response to a customer's complaint that his food was 'bland and salty'

A TOP chef unleashed a foul-mouthed rant at a customer who dared to ask for a refund.

Russell Whish had booked and paid £180 a year in advance for a meal with his wife at Michelin-starred Michael O’Hare’s The Man Behind the Curtain.

But the disappointed dad of two said the grub was “bland and salty”.

He said he was told there was no one to complain to at the restaurant in Leeds. He later returned to ask to see O’Hare in vain before finally sending an email.

O’Hare — seen on TV in The Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen and MasterChef — wrote back: “You didn’t like the food, but plenty do.

“I do, I love it, I’m very proud of it and my palette is about 10million times better than yours! This is why I am a famous chef. Remember, Led Zeppelin didn’t write songs that everyone liked, they left that to The Beatles.”

Russell replied: “We paid for a Led Zeppelin concert and got Wizzard.”

O’Hare, 36, then wrote: “Russell, if you’re going to share this publicly could you please add to it the fact that both my staff and I think you are a right c***. Regards, Michael O’Hare, lead singer of Wizzard.”

Russell, 42, told The Sun: “It seems fame has gone to his head.

“I responded cheekily to what he’d already said. But the message he came back with is frankly unacceptable.

“At the end of the meal, we couldn’t even refuse to pay as we’d already forked out the cash. If it is what he thinks of customers, people deserve to know!”
Mr O’Hare’s spokesman would not comment.
