SHOCKING video shows the moment a man apparently shot himself dead in a standoff with cops - as another motorist live streamed it on his phone.

Officers can be seen trying to talk to a driver through his open car doors before a shot rings out.

The drama was filmed by people in another car, who also broadcast it to friends on Instagram Live.

A woman watching the standoff from the car across the road is heard saying: "I hope he doesn't do it."

Then after the bang she cries out: "Oh my God!";

A man says: "He just killed himself. That's f***ing crazy."

It appears to be the same incident as a shooting outside a Costco store yesterday near Dayton, Ohio.

A man shot himself in the car park as officers were trying to speak to him, said Centerville Police Information Officer John Davis.

The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition and later died, .

Police were initially called to reports of a suicidal man at 4pm local time.
