A leaflet sent to MEPs tells them harassing workers could have 'serious consequences'
EURO MPs have been told they could face just a slap on the wrist if they are caught out sexually harassing their staff.
A jaw-dropping behaviour guide warns MEPs they will be “publicly reprimanded” for their actions, but doesn’t mention them getting the sack.
Instead, it reminds politicians that resulting press reports could have “serious consequences” for their careers.
The brochure, produced by officials, tells euro MPs not to pinch their staff or show them porn and is accompanied by a poster campaign.
It also demands they stop using coarse language, stalking young assistants and promising promotions in return for sex.
Euro MPs are told that those found guilty by parliamentary authorities face having it “announced to the world that you have been harassing your staff”.
The guide warns: “This can have serious consequences on your political career, as journalists and political opponents will certainly use this against you.”
Large billboards have been up outside the voting chamber and canteens, though one source drily observed they would “be better placed in the members’ bars”.
