Pregnant Kate Middleton beams as she wears Princess Diana’s favourite tiara for diplomatic ball with the Queen
THE Duchess of Cambridge beams as she wears Princess Diana's favourite tiara on her way to a ball at Buckingham Palace.
Kate, 35, was seen smiling alongside husband Prince William as they were chauffeured to a diplomatic ball hosted by the Queen.
The Cambridge Lover's Knot, encrusted with diamonds and pearls, was worn by Diana after being given by the Queen as a wedding present in 1981.
Kate was last seen wearing the stunning headpiece at a reception for Chinese president Xi Jinping last year.
Her glamorous evening out comes after speculation mounted over her role at brother-in-law Prince Harry's upcoming wedding to Meghan Markle.
We told yesterday how Kate is not likely to be a bridesmaid at the May 26 nuptials.
Royal author Marlene Koenig told : "The Duchess of Cambridge barely knows Meghan.
"For another, she is the future queen consort when William becomes king after his father, and would unlikely be an attending person to another royal bride.
Meghan's potential bridesmaids could include tennis champ Serena Williams and a Hollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.
Kate and Wills are due to travel to Manchester tomorrow for the Children's Global Media Summit.
