M1 crash sparks motorway travel chaos after child and three others injured in eight-car collision
A CHILD and at least three adults have been taken to hospital after a pile-up on the northbound M1 in Northamptonshire tonight.
The motorway was closed at junction 15A following the "serious" crash shortly before 4.30pm today, under the Rothersthorpe bridge near junction 16.
Eight motors were involved including a lorry, van and a number of cars — with one that had several children inside.
Northants Police officer PC Dave Lee said: "All emergency services are working together to get the casualties out of two of the vehicles involved.
"Sadly one vehicle contained several children."
One of the casualties was taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital for treatment and at least three more to Northampton General Hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
