Heartbroken Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas posts emotional Twitter message fortnight after shock death of his wife
Simon thanked fans for their 'incredible outpouring of love and support' after wife Gemma tragically passed away just three days after she was diagnosed with cancer
HEARTBROKEN Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas has thanked fans for their well-wishes two weeks after his wife suddenly died of cancer.
The ex-Blue Peter host posted the emotional message on Twitter after Gemma, 40, tragically passed away just three days after she was diagnosed with the cruel disease.
He said: "Two weeks on since she went. I have only been able to read a fraction of the incredible outpouring of love and support for us on here in the painful days that followed.
"One day, with my boy, we will read them.
"For now, all I can say from the depths of my heart, is thank you."
Grieving Simon revealed Gemma had lost her battle to acute myeloid leukaemia last month, saying he was “crushed with indescribable pain”.
Gemma had only been diagnosed with the killer disease three days earlier when she went to the doctors after feeling unwell.
She began chemotherapy on Tuesday and despite initially responding well, her condition deteriorated and Simon was told on November 24 she had just hours to live.
The mum died later that night surrounded by friends and family.
Since the devastating news, Simon has shared a number of touching tributes to her from himself and their eight-year-old son Ethan.
One picture on Instagram of the three of them was captioned: “Team Thomas. Three has become two. Heartbroken and suffocating with grief.”
Another showed a picture drawn by the youngster of his mum, next to which Ethan wrote: “Best mum ever!!!”
Tributes have been flooding in for Gemma from around the world after her death was announced by Simon on Twitter.
