Male associate of Damian Green backs woman who made sexual misconduct allegations against the First Secretary of State
A male associate of ‘Deputy PM’ Damian Green has backed the woman who has accused the politician of sexual misconduct.
The man – who insists on remaining anonymous – has reportedly talked to Cabinet Office inquiry chief Sue Gray after being uncomfortable with a string of anonymous attacks on Kate Maltby.
It comes amid claims Downing Street is sitting on the report into Theresa May’s closest ally so it can try and work out how to save his political career.
Kate Maltby last month accused Damian Green of making inappropriate advances.
Since the disclosures she has been accused of being “desperate to be well known” and warned by Tory sources to be “more careful the next time she’s asked to write a piece trashing a decent man”.
The Cabinet Office inquiry is also investigating allegations police officers found porn on Damian Green’s parliamentary computers.
