Primary school forced to apologise for using cheeky photo of romping reindeer in newsletter
Head teacher admitted staff 'didn't look closely enough at the picture' used ahead of charity Christmas Jumper Day
A PRIMARY school has been forced to apologise after inadvertently using a saucy picture of reindeer having sex in a newsletter to parents.
Hyde Park Junior School sent the letter to encourage kids to take part in Christmas Jumper Day for charity.
But it became Christmas Humper Day when they illustrated it with a cheeky festive pullover featuring four randy reindeer mating.
One parent said: "I'm a bit shocked that a primary school have sent out a newsletter with an inappropriate picture... Something to make you laugh?"
Jacqui Tucker said: "Is there really any need for this? Xmas is for children, not this sort of thing."
Michael Whiddon said: "The one time I regret not reading my daughter's school newsletter."
David Lister joked: "No wonder he has a very shiny nose" and Andy Priest said: "Reindeer with the horn.....what's new?"
The 360-pupil school in Plymouth, Devon, has since removed Monday's newsletter from its website.
Head Tina Jackson admitted the blunder was because staff didn't notice what was depicted on the novelty knitwear.
She said: "Unfortunately we didn't look closely enough at the picture we used to show our support for Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Friday.
"We're sorry if it has offended anyone and hope it doesn't spoil our good intention of encouraging pupils to support a very worthy cause."
Dad Mark Tyrrell wrote on Facebook he was surprised anyone took offence.
He wrote: "Crikey, obviously kids have been to the zoo and seen animals mounting each other?
"If anyone owns a dog, I am sure they've had a laugh of watching it trying to mate another dog -or even a furry coat!"
Earlier today we revealed the hilariously inappropriate gifts bought for children by clueless grandparents.
