CLIC Sargent showed cancer victim Imogen, 4, she could be brave with toys and her mum urges you to back the Smiles At Christmas campaign
Donate to help this vital charity and Morrisons will give the same until Sunday
WHEN four-year-old cancer victim Imogen Prothero lost her hair she was comforted by the gift of a Barbie – with removable hair and wigs.
The doll came from the CLIC Sargent charity, which helps and supports children with cancer and their families, and is at the heart of The Sun’s Smiles at Christmas with CLIC Sargent appeal.
Every penny raised will help to fund toys like Imogen’s doll, plus cancer nurses and play specialists, who teach children about the disease and its treatment through play.
Morrisons’ charity arm, the Morrisons Foundation, will match any sum given until tomorrow.
Imogen’s mum Miranda, from Paddington, North West London, knows that sessions with play specialist Laura Walter at University College London Hospital helped her to cope with her ordeal.
Miranda, 40, said: “When we first came into contact with CLIC Sargent I was at a real low. It was the first time I realised I was not alone.
“CLIC Sargent workers brought toiletries, a coffee cup - things I hadn’t packed as I didn’t realise I would be in hospital overnight.
And your cash will help to fund more play specialists like her.
She added: “Laura used toys to help Imogen understand her treatment. She showed her the machines and put her cuddly pink dolphin through it first.
"Laura showed Imogen the CT scanner and put her cuddly pink dolphin through it first.
