Rape lie student will sue police after 40,000 messages proving his innocence ‘were hidden’

A STUDENT wrongly tried for rape after cops buried 40,000 messages proving his innocence is to sue police and the CPS.

Lawyers for Liam Allan are preparing a claim after the case against him collapsed last week.

Liam, 22, had faced at least 12 years’ jail but could now win hundreds of thousands of pounds.

The Crown Prosecution Service was forced to drop charges when it emerged his accuser had begged him for sex and swapped messages with other partners about rape fantasies.

Sources say she told one boyfriend she loved it when he choked her during sex and told pals how well-endowed Liam is after they broke up.

Police failed to pass the messages to Liam’s defence team. Last night his lawyer Simone Meerabux said: “Mr Allan lost two years of his life because of gross negligence.

“We are considering legal action against the Met Police and CPS.”

The detective in charge of the failed case at Croydon crown court, South London, is now the focus of a Met probe.
