Brit truckers trained to stop jihadis hijacking their lorries for terror attacks

Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the UK’s top security watchdog that agents are working with lorry drivers to avoid vehicles being stolen and used to ram down innocents

SPOOKS have been training British truckers to stop their lorries being hijacked by jihadis and used for terror attacks, it emerged last night.

The Home Secretary told the UK’s top security watchdog that agents are working with lorry drivers to avoid vehicles being stolen and used to ram down innocents.

Intelligence sharing channels have been set up and drivers have been taught how to be extra vigilant to avoid disaster.

Heavy Goods Vehicles have been hijacked on the Continent and used in terror attacks — most devastatingly in Berlin last year when 12 Christmas market shoppers were ploughed down by a crazed ISIS fanatic.

In April, five were killed in Stockholm when a stolen truck was ploughed into a busy shopping street by a Islamist terrorist.

And a rented 19 tonne cargo truck was used to kill 87 and injure more than 400 in Nice in July 2016.

Security reviewed across UK after Berlin Christmas market attack

Parliament’s secret Intelligence and Security Committee published their annual review yesterday.

Within it revealed that the Home Secretary Amber Rudd told the nine strong panel that she had been working with “the UK Road Haulage Association to help ensure that its members have the appropriate security measures in place for their vehicles and staff.”

Their report reveals: “The day after the lorry attack in Nice, the police held an extraordinary meeting of the Security Review Committee.”

Amber Rudd says people who repeatedly view terrorist content online could face up to 15 years in prison

It concluded “more could be done to mitigate against the vulnerabilities around HGVs being used in such attacks in the UK.”

Last night the Road Haulage Association confirmed to The Sun that they work closely with the Government on “intelligence gathering and passing on relevant information.”

PM: I'll kill UK jihad terrorists

THERESA May insists she will not flinch from using drone strikes to obliterate British jihadis.

The PM said ordering the killing of a Briton was the toughest decision a government could face.

But she went on: “Sadly this year has shown that the threat from terrorism cannot always be contained.

“Too many innocent families’ lives have been ruined across the UK from international terrorist attacks.”

Mrs May, who was responding to a parliamentary report, said ordering a strike was always a last resort.

But she added that, if there was a direct threat to UK citizens, then she “will always be prepared to take action”.

A spokesman said: “We always urge our members and their drivers to be vigilant - in terms of themselves, their loads and their trucks.”

“In these times of heightened security the importance of vigilance is even more important - even the simple precautionary measures can make a difference.

“Don’t leave your keys unattended at any time.

“Lock your cab every single time you leave it and be careful who you talk to when out on the road; truckstops or cafes for example.”
