Lee Rigby killer drops £25,000 compensation claim against five prison officers
Michael Adebolajo lost two teeth and said he suffered 'psychiatric injury' after they tried to restrain him at HMP Belmarsh
ONE of soldier Lee Rigby’s murderers has dropped his £25,000 compensation claim against five prison officers.
Michael Adebolajo, 32, lost two teeth and said he suffered “psychiatric injury” after they tried to restrain him at London’s maximum security HMP Belmarsh in July 2013.
The fanatic then launched his brazen lawsuit - first revealed by The Sun.
When we disclosed full details of his claim in September, Lee's grieving mum Lyn slammed it as "blood money".
A month later, a High Court judge sparked fury by insisting it would be "a great pity" if Adebolajo did not get legal aid to bring his claim to court.
And sources close to the case said they feared the whole sorry saga would end up costing the public at least £100,000.
But last night it emerged the thug had decided to ditch the case at the last moment.
A source said: "The reasons are still unclear.
"But it is suspected that after three years of legal wrangling he has finally realised he had no prospect of success."
Prison officers at Belmarsh have been furious about the case, with those involved facing giving evidence in any court case.
